Automatic item updates: price
Google found a different price on your product page than in your feed and corrected the feed price automatically, which keeps the product live but signals your feed is stale.
What this error means
Automatic item updates is a Merchant Center feature that reads the structured data on your product pages and corrects your feed when the two disagree. This warning tells you Google found a different price on the page than in your feed and used the page's price instead. The product keeps serving with the corrected price, which is why this is a warning rather than a disapproval.
Why it happens
Your feed refreshes on a schedule, your prices change on their own schedule, and Google crawls in between. A sale that started after the last feed upload, a price change that has not synced yet, or a feed that only refreshes weekly all create the gap that automatic updates papers over. The feature is doing you a favor, but a steady stream of these warnings means shoppers see prices your feed did not promise, and if the gap gets too large or too frequent, Google stops correcting and disapproves the product for a price mismatch instead.
How to fix it
- Check which products get corrected and compare feed price against page price to find the pattern: sales, currency, VAT, or plain staleness.
- Refresh the feed more often. The feed should update at least as often as your prices change, and after every sale start and end.
- Send sales properly: keep the regular price in
priceand the discounted price insale_pricewith its dates, so the feed matches the page for the entire promotion. - Make sure the structured data on your product pages is correct, since that is what Google reads to do the correction. Wrong schema markup makes Google "correct" your feed to a wrong value.
- Leave automatic item updates switched on. It is your safety net against the harder price mismatch disapproval.
Fixing it in your store
Match the feed schedule to your pricing rhythm. Stores that run frequent promotions usually need at least a daily feed refresh, and platforms with a real-time sync to Merchant Center avoid the gap entirely. Also verify your product page schema outputs the price a shopper actually pays, including VAT, because both the crawler check and the automatic correction start from that markup.
How long until it clears
There is nothing to clear in the blocking sense, since the products keep serving. The warnings stop appearing once Google's crawls find the same price in the feed and on the page.
