Insecure or missing HTTPS checkout

Time to clear: A few days after the pages are secured and re-reviewedPublished

Your checkout or pages that collect personal data are not properly secured with HTTPS, which Google requires before showing your products.

What this error means

Google requires that checkout and any page collecting personal or payment information is served securely. When those pages are not protected with a valid certificate over HTTPS, Google may disapprove the affected products or treat the site as not meeting its trust requirements. Left unaddressed, this can escalate to an account-level misrepresentation problem.

Why it happens

The trigger is a checkout, login, or account page that handles names, addresses, or payment details without a valid SSL certificate, or over plain HTTP. It also happens when a certificate has expired, does not cover the checkout subdomain, or when the page mixes secure and insecure content. Any of these means personal data is not safely protected.

How to fix it

  1. Install a valid SSL certificate that covers your whole site, including the checkout and any subdomains that collect data.
  2. Serve every page over HTTPS, and redirect HTTP to HTTPS.
  3. Fix mixed-content warnings so a secure page does not load insecure scripts or images.
  4. Renew certificates before they expire and confirm the checkout shows as secure in the browser.
  5. Once the pages are secured, request a review.

Fixing it in your store

Most store platforms and CDNs offer SSL, but this issue often comes from an expired certificate, a custom checkout on a subdomain that was missed, or mixed content pulled from an insecure source. Confirm the padlock shows on the live checkout, that the certificate covers every domain in the purchase flow, and that no asset loads over plain HTTP.

How long until it clears

Once the checkout and data-collecting pages are secured and re-reviewed, expect recovery within a few days.
