Misrepresentation of self or business

Time to clear: 7 to 30 days (manual review)Published

Google suspended the whole account because it could not verify enough trust signals like return policy, contact details, and payment information.

What this error means

This is the heaviest issue in Merchant Center: not a single product disapproval but a suspension of the entire account. Google decided it cannot verify that your store is what it claims to be.

Why it happens

Google checks stores for transparency before letting them advertise. It looks for a clear return and refund policy, visible contact details and business information, secure checkout, and consistency between what the site promises and what it does. When too many of these signals are missing or contradictory, the misrepresentation policy triggers and the whole account is suspended. It is rarely one single problem; it is usually an accumulation of missing trust signals.

Consistency weighs heavily. The business name, address, and contact details on your site should match what is registered in Merchant Center and what appears at checkout. Placeholder pages, a missing about page, unreachable phone numbers, and policy pages that contradict each other all count against you, even when each one alone looks like a small oversight.

How to fix it

  1. Add visible return and delivery policy pages, linked from the footer of every page. Write them so they match what you actually do: a policy page that promises returns you do not honor is worse than none.
  2. Put full contact details and business information on the site: company name, address, email, and phone number, matching your Merchant Center registration.
  3. Make sure the entire checkout runs over HTTPS and payment options are clearly shown.
  4. Walk your own site as a first-time visitor before requesting anything. Every claim a shopper can see, from delivery times to discounts, has to be one you can keep.
  5. When everything is in place, request a re-review in Merchant Center. Do not request it early: you get a limited number of attempts, and a failed review makes the next one slower. Fix everything first, then ask once.

How long until it clears

Plan for 7 to 30 days. This is a manual review by Google, and there is no way to speed it up beyond submitting a genuinely fixed store the first time.
