Landing page not accessible

Time to clear: 1 to 3 daysPublished

Google cannot reach your product page because it returns an error or is blocked from crawling.

What this error means

The URL in your link attribute does not lead to a working product page. Google tried to reach it and got a 404, a server error, or a block, so the product cannot be approved.

Why it happens

Google requires a reachable landing page for every product. This error appears when the product was deleted or the URL changed while the feed still points at the old address, when the server returns 5xx errors under load, or when Googlebot is blocked in robots.txt or by a firewall or bot-protection rule. Without an accessible page there is nothing to verify, so the disapproval is automatic.

The blocking cause is the one store owners miss most often. Bot-protection services and CDN firewalls ship with rules that challenge or reject unknown crawlers, and an overly broad rule catches Googlebot too. The page then works perfectly in your own browser while Google sees a block page, which makes this error look random when it is not.

How to fix it

  1. Open the exact URL from your feed's link attribute in an incognito window and confirm it loads the product page. Incognito matters: your normal browser session may be logged in or cached.
  2. Check robots.txt and any bot-protection or CDN firewall layer, and make sure Googlebot is not blocked or challenged. If you use Search Console, the URL Inspection tool shows you the page exactly as Googlebot sees it.
  3. Fix 404s by restoring the page or updating the feed URL to the current product address. Check that redirects resolve in one hop to the final page.
  4. If the errors come in waves, check your server logs for 5xx responses. A server that buckles under crawl traffic produces this error intermittently.
  5. Request a re-crawl in Merchant Center once the page is reachable.

Fixing it in your store

Keep feed URLs in sync with your store. When you change a product's URL or delete a product, the feed has to follow in the same update cycle. Set your feed tool to regenerate on a schedule that matches how often your catalog changes, and remove deleted products from the feed instead of letting them point at dead pages.

How long until it clears

Usually 1 to 3 days after Google can reach the page again.
