Category: Product data errors
Errors caused by missing, invalid, or conflicting attribute values in your product feed. These are the most common Merchant Center issues and usually the fastest to fix.
Duplicate products
Google sees two or more of your offers as not unique enough from each other and treats them as duplicate products.
Editorial issue: promotional text in title
The product title contains promotional wording, excessive capitals, or symbols that Google does not allow.
Expired product
The product has expired, either past its expiration date or because the feed has not refreshed in 30 days, so it stopped showing.
Insufficient unique product identifiers
Google does not have enough unique identifiers (GTIN, MPN, brand) to understand your product, so it limits or disapproves it.
Invalid GTIN: failed checksum
The GTIN's check digit does not match the rest of the barcode, so Google rejects it as invalid.
Invalid value [gtin]
The GTIN you submitted is not a valid barcode, so Google cannot match your product to its catalog and disapproves it.
Invalid value [id]
The product id contains characters Google cannot accept, or is not valid encoding, so the item is rejected.
Invalid value [price]
The price you submitted is not in a format Google can read, so the product is disapproved.
Invalid value [sale price]
The sale price you submitted is not valid, usually because it is zero or negative, or formatted in a way Google cannot read.
Mismatched value (page crawl): availability
The availability in your feed does not match the availability Google found on your product page, so the product is disapproved.
Mismatched value (page crawl): price
The price in your feed does not match the price Google finds on your product page.
Missing required apparel attributes: age group and gender
Your apparel products are missing the age group or gender attribute that Google requires for clothing, so they are disapproved.
Missing required apparel attributes: color and size
Your apparel products are missing the color or size attribute that Google requires for clothing, so they are disapproved.
Missing value [availability date]
You marked a product as preorder or backorder but did not give the date it becomes available, which Google requires.
Missing value [availability]
The availability attribute is missing, so Google does not know whether the product can be bought and disapproves it.
Missing value [brand]
The brand attribute is empty for a product that is expected to have one, so Google cannot identify it properly.
Missing value [description]
The description attribute is missing. Products can still show, but they lose ranking, so Google flags it as a warning to fix.
Missing value [gtin]
Google is missing the GTIN (barcode) for products from brands that have one.
Missing value [mpn]
The manufacturer part number is expected for this product and is not in your feed.
Missing value [price]
The price attribute in your feed is missing or empty for this product.
Missing value [shipping]
Google does not have shipping cost information for these products, usually because the shipping attribute is missing its required country.
Missing value [unit pricing measure]
Some products must show a price per unit in certain countries, and the unit pricing measure attribute that enables it is missing.
Preemptive item disapproval (PID)
Google has preemptively disapproved products it expects to have a price or availability mismatch, based on past mismatches in your account.
Title too long or truncated
Your title is over Google's character limit and gets truncated, so Google flags it as a warning to tidy up.
